Cafe Piazza (3000 El Camino Real, Palo Alto)

01/25/09: lunch

About 1000 calories of tasty: grilled turkey on french bread with generous heaping of cranberry sauce and seasoned golden-brown fries.

Total cost: $8.60

iRestaurant (20007 Stevens Creek Blvd, Cupertino)

01/16/09: dinner

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner and loved the semi-edible crane sculpture that accompanied the succulent mayo-swathed walnut prawns.

Zibibbo (430 Kipling St, Palo Alto)

01/14/09: lunch

Their pizzas are definitely the best value on their lunch menu. For slightly more than the cost of take-out at my usual lunch place, the Zibibbo pizza not only left me stuffed and in a serious food coma after lunch . . . it also served as a late afternoon snack *and* a ready-to-heat dinner.

Word.

Total cost: $12.00

Pho Vi Hoa (4546 El Camino Real, Los Altos)

01/13/09: lunch

Funny how I go to a pho place for lunch and don't actually order pho.

Total cost: $6.00

99 Ranch (or Ranch 99)

01/06/09: snack

A trip to Ranch 99 always yields an assortment of tasty Asian snacks. What was supposed to be a "quick trip to the store" turned into an hour-long snack shopping binge.

There's more MSG in those shrimp chips than there is shrimp flavoring . . . but that's what makes them so, so good. :)

Gyros Gyros (498 University Ave, Palo Alto)

01/04/09: lunch

I've never made my own hummus before so I'm not sure how difficult it is. I'm also not sure whether Gyros Gyros makes their own hummus.

The one thing I *am* sure of is that their hummus plate pairs some of the best hummus I've ever tasted with some of the best cucumber feta salad I've ever had. All for $5.95 + tax in downtown PA.

Yum-my.

Total cost: $6.50 (Including tax. How do I know this? Because I always get the exact same thing.)

Hong Kong Bistro (147 Castro St, Mountain View)

12/27/09: dinner

Is it just me or has eating out gotten expensive (no matter how you try to save money)? So we made it to dinner early enough for "happy hour" where they have a $5 menu which includes lemon tea (mmm). Our bill still came out to nearly $20 bucks after everything was said and done though. I suppose almost 10% tax and 20% tip means every dinner bill is really 30% higher than menu price. Oh well.

The baked pork chop over rice was delicious (as usual) and the porridge with chinese fried donut was just exactly what I was craving. Yay.

Total cost: $17.00 (for two)
